07.October 2008 - Version 3.1.3 Basic
Changes since AFS 3.1.2 Basic:
  • Bugfix: There was a problem when the explorer folder option "Hide known file extension" was enabled. Then the selected file in encryption file-dialog could not be found and produced some error when trying to encrypt. This is solved now.


04.June 2008 - Version 3.1.2 Basic
Changes since AFS 3.1.1 Basic:
  • Bugfix: "The procedure entry point 'RegSaveKeyExA' could not be located in dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll" occured when executing AFS in Windows 2000.

  • Bugfix: AFS crashed on startup when running on some particular (mostly older) processors.

Differences since version basic 3.0e :
  • Sorting of Source-List by: Date, Size, Name, Path and Type

24. September 2006 - Version 3.0e Basic
Differences since version basic 3.0d :
  • Minor bugs and potential problems, e.g. available free disk space detection


05. August 2006 - Version 3.0d Basic
Differences since version basic 3.0 c :
  • Fixed problems with multiuser installation and usage.
  • Fixed other possible issues they revealed within development of version 3.1


16. March 2006 - Version 3.0c Basic
Differences since version 3.0 b :
  • New shell exentension dll due to several incompatibility problems with other programs.
  • Bugfix: Wrong destination path with folder encryption, when changing path name


14. December 2005 - Version 3.0 b Basic
Differnces since version 3.0 :
  • If program was started from context menu, the program will close automatically after crypt process
  • Settings storage is now user dependend, so every user can have his own settings
  • Included new online help of AFS
  • Bugfix: Problem after encrypting with key extension


12. December 2005 - Version 3.0 Basic
Final release of Advanced File Security 3.0 Basic, changes since last beta version:
  • some smaller enhancements/bugfixes
  • some preventive changes for higher error tolerance
  • saving of source list was removed due to Pro version


25. October 2005 - Version 3 Beta 2
First english release of AFS version 3 (beta), with following implemented features:
  • Encryption of files & folders
  • Complete context menu support
  • Improved help system
  • AES Enrypt-Algorithm
  • Load & Save of Source File Lists

20. June 2005 - Version 2.3d
- There was a problem with hidden and protected system files like "thumbs.db".
If you encrypt such a file and want to decrypt it in a folder where the file already exists (overriding is prohibited by windows), the program does not handle with this problem as it supposed to be an shows a wrong error message and cancels the decryption.


30. Januar 2005 - Version 2.3c
- There was a bug when changing the filename of the encrypted file, when you remove the old file extension from the filename the program can't decrypt the file and reports an write protection error.

This is fixed, changing the filename does not have any influence on the program and its decryption behaviour anymore.


12.Mai 2003 - Version 2.3b
- There was a bug when removing the original file from. Not the file was removed, only the reference in the File Alloctation Table (FAT). This is fixed now.


19.April 2003 - Version 2.3
- The main improvement is the quite improved error handling and behaviour, it is now much user friendlier! All errors and warnings will be logged to file now. With every en-/decryption the old logfile will be overwritten!

- Now also a summary-dialog will be displayed at the end of a en-/decryption. There you habe an overview how many file were en-/decrypted, how many files were skipped and also how many errors occured.

- The hole program shrinked about 50KB, because the external dll file is not needed anymore. The file were used to show the "Select folder"-Dialog, now I found a quite better possibility to show this dialog.

- I also changed the file extension from encrypted file from .des to .afs. The program is further on compatibel to .des files, but from now on new file will be saved as .afs only. I've done this because I felt that's not the best idea to use the type of the encryption-algorithm as a file extension!


13.November 2001 - Version 2.2
- The program has improved very much, a lot of small and a few greater bugs could be resolved. That`s why this version is now much more stable and secure!

- But the main-feature of v2.2 is the folder-ecnryption. That means the program searches automatically for all file in a given folder and encrypts all files with the password! It is also possible to encrypt the subfolders, too!

- And last but not least I gave the program a new look.


12.June 2001 - Version 2.1
- The version is the same, but there is altough something new. A Installation-program were added, so you can install & deinstall the program perfectly, also with shortcuts and so one.


06.February 2001 - Version 2.1
- Werner Sieber founds a bug during the encryption of several files. The progamm deletes only the first seleceted file and not all files. I solved the problem.


26.January 2001 - Version 2.0
- I inserted several new features! You can use a real Password now with all letters and signs.

- And Karsten Juschus developed a new and quiet faster encryption-algorithm, without losing any security.

- And I inserted the possibility of the Triple-DES, what means a really high security for encrypted files!


05.October 2000 - Version 1.3
- I solved a bug who Ingo Fähse found. It was possible to decrypt files with a wrong password, because of a mistake with a parity-bit.


13.July 2000 - Version 1.2
- I solved a combatibility problem with v1.0 and v1.1

- Inserted a Help-functionality for a quick help for users, like a small faq.


12.June 2000 - Version 1.1
- Insert the possibility to select several files and encrypt them with one password.

- And I inserted the possibility to decrypt files over the context-menu.


26.May 2000 - Version 1.0
- Release of Version 1.0 after about 3 weeks work!
