News Archive 2003 11. November 2003 - First screenshot of AFS 3.0 Today I published the first screenshot for AFS. There you can get a first impression about the new design. I would appreciate it if you can tell me your meaning about the new design. It's little bit like the XP design. In the last weeks I didn't had so much time, so that I are not in time at the moment. The basic development (design, help, languages etc.) is over and now I can start to port the old code and implement the new one. Furthermore I have found a public free crypt-library which is reliable, stable and fast. That would save me a lot of time. 21. September 2003 - New vote and vote analysis I've closed the AFS Feature Vote today and created a new vote. The result of the new features vote: More than one half (55%) wished the encryption via context menu. With in each case 15% compression and the AES encryption stands on the second place of your wishlist. The FileFilter and the planning reached after all 8% in each case. A linux version is not wanted and would not be implemented. New features I will implement are: AES, compression, context menu encry., File Filter And for these features I decide after effort and benefit: planning, synchronization The new vote is about how big the new AFS should be, so that I can react in the implementation phase if the program should get to big, or so. So, take part on the new vote ! The implementation of the new versions runs very well. I work at this time on the basic structure and on the design. This will still take a while... br> 27. July 2003 - Start of Project AFS 3.0 I decided to implement the features of OPT in the new release of Advanced File Security. So this feature will not get a stand alone program. Then I got the idea to make a almost comlete new developement with AFS 3.0 ! It would not be possible to implement all the new features and ideas I've got from you based on the old source code. The basic functioniality of AFS will be the same and for sure it will be downard compatible to the "old" AFS files. To prevent possible misconceptions and conflicts with my employer Atronic, I have renamed the program to Advanced File Security. Also I want to inform you always online about the current state of the development. I would let you take part in the development phase, so that I can fit the program to your interests & wishes. That's why I will provide you latest downloads of my work and start votes, too. I hope for a great participation! June 2003 - New AFS plannings and new vote! Today I have updated the plannings for Advanced File Security. There are several interesting new ideas and improvement proposals! That's why I've opened a new vote where you can vote for the feature you need! And of course, you can vote for more than one feature but not within one hour, or you dial up your internet connection again. (Your IP-adress will be saved for one hour to prevent re-voteing) So, please vote or you can write me also other good ideas and improvements! 18. June 2003 - English version online! Now I have managed it to publish the english version of my website and my programs! I hope now for more international success, that's why I reserved an exclusive internet adress: www.osborn-software.com redirects to my english website! I didn't have taken over the complete german website, some stuff like the Picture section is currently exclusive in the german version. But eventually I will add this later also to the english version, we will see! I hope for many visitors and satisfied users like with the german version! 12. May 2003 - Small AFS Update! I have made a update of Advanced File Security, but only a small one, that's why it is only version 2.3b. In the Versions-History you can see what haved changed exactly! Addionally I have added some screenshots of AFS. 30. April 2003 - New Preview! Today I have published a new preview called Osborn's Password Transmission! The program should provide a secure transmission of passwords via RSA-Encryption. Please mail me your suggestions or opinions! 27. April 2003 - New Website-Design online! I have managed it on time to release the totally new website design! I have invested a lot of time in that but I think that was good so. At the beginning you have to acclimate on the design but after a while you will enjoy it, this was at least my reaction! The content didn't changed a lot, this I will do later, else I won't be ready yet. For best viewing I recommend the Internet Explorer, but Opera/Netscape will work too, but a few optical mistakes could possibly occur! You can tell me your opinion and take part on my vote or you can write me a message into my guestbook! Enjoy surfing! 21. April 2003 - New AFS-Version 2.3! After almost 1 1/2 years I have released a new version of my encryptionprogram: Advanced File Security! The version 2.3 was originally planned as version 2.2b and only a few things should changed, but how such things always are, you will get one new idea or improvement after another and so I get sufficient features to make a version 2.3! You can see all new features in the programs section Advanced File Security. Ich recommend to deinstall the old version before you install the new one! How you can easily see the new website design is still not online, due to the new version of AFS but I think in a few days it will be ready! So have fun with the new version! 09. March 2003 - It starts again... after 481 paused days due to privat and occupational things! Today I have made only a small update and cleaned the website. I removed the forum because it was not really necessary, the guestbook and the eMail adress are sufficient enough! On 04.03. I have started a promotion-tour for my program Advanced File Security. Until now it runs good, over 200 visitors on my website and over 300 downloads in only 5 days! And if the tour will be successful I promise that I will release a new version of Advanced File Security within this year! At this time I work with high pressure on a new website. Also the website has to become finitely compatibel to Opera/Netscape! But this site should become very good at all and that's why it will still take about 2 month to finish it! Back
